“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

Lord Jesus,

We hand over all the ways in which we try to live life our way. We hand over our need to achieve, do more and impress other people. We give to you our way of life that leaves us feeling tired and burdened.

Lord, teach us to live in the way that you did, to take your yoke and not our own. Help us find real rest in your way of life.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,

the people he chose for his inheritance.

From heaven the Lord looks down

and sees all mankind;

from his dwelling place he watches

all who live on earth -

he who forms the hearts of all,

who considers everything they do.”

Psalm 33:12-15

Lord Jesus,

We thank you that even in a time of isolation, separation and loneliness, you see us, hear us and you are with us. Lord, for those who particularly feel unseen in this time, would you fill them with your comfort and your peace. Would you remind them that you are watching over them and are their ever present help.

Lord, would you help us ‘see’ those who feel unseen. Help us notice those opportunities to reach out, to encourage, to do something nice for someone or to be a listening ear. Prompt us so that we may share in the same love you have for them.

We thank you for every student who has started studying at university this year. We thank you that you are teaching them so much even in the midst of such difficult circumstances.

We pray that as this year doesn’t look like how many students had hoped, we pray that they would still be able to learn and complete assignments without being able to meet many other students or their lecturers.

His love endures forever.”

Psalm 136:1

Father,

We thank you for the young people of this nation. Today we want to pray for all of the young people who are struggling with their mental health. As the rates of young people who are experiencing depression for the first time are at a high, due to the pandemic, we pray that you would help them to traverse what those feelings mean and be able to reach out to friends and their families. May they have the courage to share what they are struggling with and what they are feeling.

We also pray for our youth team that you would give them wisdom to know how to support the young people of our church in this time.
