We want to keep prayer at the heart of our church life so every few weeks, we’ll add some prayer points here for our church, our community and our world. We’d also love you to join us for our monthly Worship and Prayer Nights which take place on the first Tuesday of each month.

November 2024

A prayer for our church…

Let’s pray for our Connect Groups. Ask God to make them a place where people can find community, build friendships, and support each other. Pray that everyone feels welcomed and encouraged as they grow together in faith, and that we would “spur one another on toward love and good deeds” as it says in Hebrews 10:24.

A prayer for our local community…

Let’s lift up all the parents and carers in Watford and the surrounding areas, especially those feeling weary and overwhelmed. Let’s ask God to renew their strength and energy as they look after their loved ones.

A prayer for the world…

After the recent U.S. Presidential Election, we lift up that nation in prayer. God, give its leaders wisdom to govern with integrity, humility, and compassion. In the midst of different emotions and opinions, God, bring hope and draw people together.

October 2024

A prayer for our church…

We’re halfway through our “Month of Worship,” and there are so many exciting things happening! Let’s pray that God continues to meet with us, his people, in a powerful way. Let’s also pray that those encounters would shape us and spill over into our everyday lives.

A prayer for our local community…

Let’s pray for our local hospitals and healthcare providers like Watford General. God, thank You for the privilege of having access to free healthcare in our country. Please give those who work in the healthcare system, both in our church and in the wider community, strength and wisdom as they do their important work.

A prayer for the world…

Let’s pray for those in Florida affected by Hurricane Milton. Many are facing flooding and power outages, and some have lost their homes and loved ones. Let’s ask God to bring them safety, comfort, and quick recovery during this tough time.

September 2024

A prayer for our church…

The Young Adult Weekend has just ended, and it was fantastic! Let’s thank God for all He did and pray that as our young adults start this new week, they hold on to everything God spoke to them about.

A prayer for our local community…

Let’s pray for local churches, like St Andrews and St Peters. Lord, we ask that You would strengthen the leaders of our local churches and provide them with everything they need for the coming months. We also pray for a fresh outpouring of Your Holy Spirit in the churches in Watford and the surrounding areas.

A prayer for the world…

Let’s pray for an end to the conflict in Sudan. Pray for protection for all those affected by the violence and for peace to come to the country. Also, let’s ask for strength and resilience for everyone working towards unity and reconciliation.

July 2024

A prayer for our church…

Big Summer Sunday is this week! Let's pray for a joyful time of fun and celebration for our church family. Let's pray for new and strengthened friendships, and for good weather!

A prayer for our local community…

Let's lift up Charis, a Christian charity in Hertfordshire that our church supports. They offer support and assistance to people who are in, or affected by, the sex industry. Let’s thank God for the dedicated staff, trustees, and volunteers. Let's pray for continued transformation in lives through this amazing charity.

A prayer for the world…

Now that the general election has concluded, let’s lift our nation to God. Father, we ask for your guidance to keep our country united. Give wisdom, courage, and strength to the newly elected leaders. Help them lead with integrity and compassion. Amen.

June 2024

A prayer for our church…

Lord Jesus, as we continue our teaching series, ‘Jesus - the Greatest of All Time’ we acknowledge that you are the highest and the greatest. Open our eyes to see your greatness anew. Amen.

A prayer for our local community…

One of the Older Youth in our church felt God gave them this picture…

“… the picture was a multiple-choice question and there was an answer circled and that answer was Jesus. I think God is trying to say to those going through GCSEs and A Levels that, yes, they are big but they don't determine the plan that God has set out for you and that is more powerful than any exam.”

Let’s pray for all the young people in our local community doing GCSE and A-level exams. Lord, give them peace and help them to trust in you.

A prayer for the world…

As the general election approaches, we pray that God will keep our country united and appoint leaders who reflect his heart. Amen.

December 2023

A prayer for our church…

Ephesians 1:22 says "And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church". Let's be praying that as a church we would continue to look to Jesus; the one who is at the centre and in charge of it all.

A prayer for our local community…

As the nights get colder let's pray for those who are experiencing homelessness this Christmas time. Let's pray for charities in the local area like New Hope that support people experiencing homelessness.

A prayer for the world…

On 10th December, Jon spoke at our services about the description of Jesus in Isaiah 9:6, "Mighty God". What are you watching or reading in the news that's breaking your heart? Bring those things to Jesus now and remember that He is "Mighty God".

November 2023

A prayer for our church…

Christmas is fast approaching! So much is going on in the life of our church around this time (Christmas Market, Panto, Christmas Party, Christingle and Carol services). Let’s be praying that, in and amongst everything that’s going on, Jesus, the Light of the World, meets with his people and those that don’t yet know him.

A prayer for our local community…

Kim & Jo Hobbs (who are members of our church) are co-founders of Cornergate Foundation, which is a charity that works with prisoners and ex-offenders to support successful resettlement after prison. The work that Kim & Jo and the team do is amazing! Let’s be praying that God would continue to use Cornergate Foundation to transform the lives of prisoners and ex-offenders.

 A prayer for the world…

Let’s continue to pray for all those affected by the terrible violence in Israel and Gaza. We pray for…

  • people of all faiths – Jews, Muslims and Christians and for all people of the land.

  • an end to violence and the establishment of peace.

You’ll find more suggestions of ways to pray for Gaza and Israel here on the Tearfund website.
