With God on our side like this, how can we lose?

If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us,

embracing our condition and exposing himself by sending his own Son,

is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? Romans 8:31-32

Lord Jesus,

On this 75th anniversary of VE Day,we thank you for the selfless courage and sacrifice

of all who fought and died to bring peace and liberty to Europe.

Thank you for the reconciliation of former enemies

and the determination root out prejudice and oppression,

hatred and injustice and to work for peace.

We pray for nations still devastated by war and civil unrest:

that you would overcome evil with love, protect the innocent

and all victims whose lives have been shattered by the cruelty of others.

Prince of Peace, may we never take peace for granted,

working in respectful harmony with other countries.
